The Common Application is a tool for college applications that allows an applicant to apply to multiple schools with one system.

It has two parts:

- A set of questions that are common to all the schools to which the applicant is applying. These questions only need to be filled out once, instead of seperatley for each invididual school; the Common App will apply your responses to each school that requires these questions.
- Some schools will have additional questions that you can fill out separately on that school's Common App section.
Not all schools will use the common app, but many do. Schools that don't use the Common App will have their own application, usually available through their website.
